
Saab is to supply a modern digital apron management center at Jorge Chávez International Airport, Peru’s main international and domestic airport near Lima.
Saab’s surveillance system includes ADS-B sensors, the Aerobahn surface management system, TactiCall voice communications integration, and digital towers equipped with high-definition cameras to give a digital visualisation of the airport’s surface.
For the project, Saab is to build a digital apron management center within the new terminal expected to open next year at Jorge Chávez International Airport, also known as Lima Airport.
The new apron management centre will enable operators at the airport to manage, record, and measure activities across the apron from three working positions, Helping address traffic congestion and bolstering integrated situational awareness.
Lima Airport Partners (LAP) operates Peru's main airport and is 80% owned by German airport group Fraport and 20% owned by the International Finance Corporation part of the World Bank Group.
Sergio Martins, director of Saab ATM and surveillance radars for Latin America said, "Taking full ownership of apron management and implementing a full range of technologies to promote maximum situation awareness will significantly enhance Lima’s airport’s safety, efficiency, and capacity.”
