Airports in Korea have upgraded their communications systems, including putting into operation the Aeronautical Message Handling switch from Frequentis.
Working with the local company IB Leaders, Frequentis has implemented a fully redundant and virtualised solution for Aeronautical Message Handling (AMHS) the Korean Airport Cooperation (KAC).
The system increases its communication capability and fully supports the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) basic and extended AMHS service profiles and establishes international connections.
The system is located at Gimpo International Airport, headquarters of KAC and part of the busiest route in the world (Seoul Gimpo to Jeju). Along with the market-leading message handling system, the solution includes other solutions to support the central supervision of all system components, as well as the network directory service CADIR. The redundancy concept allows for a full redundancy of all components without a single point of failure.
Constantin von Reden, managing director of Frequentis Comsoft, and member of the Frequentis ATM executive board said, “With KAC we are proud to continuously enlarge our installed base, consisting currently of almost 70 satisfied AMHS customers worldwide.
“Thanks to the good cooperation with IB Leaders, we were able to deliver the system in time, despite the global challenges and travel restrictions that still existed due to the pandemic. We look forward to enhancing message handling for KAC in the future.”
The AHMS solution for KAC will support international cooperation as most neighbouring countries with direct data connections use Frequentis’ message handling system.
